This document shows how to get started with Nvidia Jetson Nano developer kit.

Pre-requisites

The following pre-requisites must be present:

  • Jetson Nano Developer Kit (4GB or 2GB version)
  • 32gb microSD card (optional microSD card reader for flashing the OS)
  • 5V 2A power supply (2GB model)
  • 5V 4A power supply (4GB model)
  • Keyboard
  • Mouse
  • Monitor
  • Internet connection
  • Host machine running Linux, Windows, or macOS for initial setup
  • For the OS image, download Nvidia Jetson Nano Image
  • For the etcher, download Etcher

Setting up Nvidia Jetson Nano

Flash Image to microSD card

Follow these steps to flash the image to a microSD card

  1. Open Etcher.
  2. Click "Flash from file" and select the Nvidia Jetson Nano image (.img file).
  3. Click "Select target" and choose the microSD card.
  4. Click "Flash!" to begin writing the image (This will take a while, so be patient.).
  5. After flashing is complete, safely remove the microSD card.

Setup the board

After successfully flashing the image to a microSD card, follow these steps to set up the Nvidia Jetson Nano board.

Setup with Display

  1. Insert the microSD card into the Jetson Nano.
  2. Connect a keyboard and mouse via USB.
  3. Connect a monitor via HDMI or DisplayPort.
  4. Power on the board by connecting the power supply. A green LED should light up as soon as the board powers on.
  5. Follow the instruction found on the screen.
  6. After following the instructions, you are done setting up the board!
